As a Wealth Management Advisor, John Taphorn is lead on a team of professionals who specialize in providing quality advice and the right services to successful business owners and affluent families.

John has been a leader and top performer in investment and wealth management since 1980. His personal commitment to understand the complex planning needs and appropriate financial solutions for the higher net worth investor and private business owner is evidenced through his attainment of the Certified Financial Planner™, Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor®, Certified Divorce Financial Analyst™ and Certified Special Needs Advisor (CSNA) designations.

He joined Merrill Lynch to enhance access to qualified and non qualified retirement plan providers, gain better access to research, global markets and superior capabilities in order to serve his affluent client base. His team also includes, Janet Perry, a Bank of America Wealth Management Banker, who specializes in cash management and lending solutions.

John has been particularly effective in his role as investment advisor to company retirement plans where he has the knowledge to help protect plan fiduciaries, provide personalized financial guidance to employees and improve plan participation.

The experience and knowledge gained from his leadership in the financial industry allows John to bring both a mature insight and a unique depth of understanding to his clients.

John received his BA from the State University of New York at Albany and is NASD licensed Series 7, 63, 24, 53 & 65.

He and his wife, Mary, have a daughter and son, Jennifer, a recent graduate of Texas A&M, and Robert, who is attending The University of Texas at Austin.
