PROFESSIONAL PROFILE
Taking a “people-focused, goals-based” approach in working with its affluent clientele, The Resin Hammitt Group dedicates significant time to understanding factors that contribute to each client’s objectives, concerns and emotions. The team’s philosophy of gaining a true appreciation for clients as individuals has led to investment strategies that are not only personalized, but, as Phil Hammitt explains, “significantly different than what many can receive elsewhere.”
Jon and Phil recognize that a majority of clients fall into the baby-boomer segment and have expressed a strong desire for an income stream in retirement. In fact, these clients share an emotional need for “tangible evidence” of reliable returns – rather than “hoping for the best” by withdrawing fixed percentages in what could be low-rate, volatile or flat markets. For these and other reasons, the team’s conservative approach avoids speculative investing – guarding against the downside with a combination of carefully-selected individual bonds, high-quality income funds, flexible appreciation-oriented mutual fund managers and large cap, dividend-paying equities.
On behalf of clients nationwide – including corporate executives in the financial, technology and entertainment industries, physicians, widows, retirees and multiple generations of families – the group addresses a wide financial considerations, diligently working to add real value that contributes to a strong client-advisor relationship.
As Jon points out, “Our clients are already wealthy – they want to stay that way. They appreciate that we strive to preserve their wealth, by utilizing flexible mutual fund managers with a global mandate to look at stocks, bonds and have money in cash, when necessary. To reduce volatility and achieve consistent returns long-term, these managers don’t need to be fully invested at all times. This is critical in our mission to protect clients’ interests.”
With many friends having become clients – and many clients having become friends – Jon and Phil utilize the world-class research and resources of Merrill Lynch analysts and economists to customize tax-efficient strategies for concentrated stock positions, provide retirement and educational planning, and examine the structure of clients’ liabilities. To arrange for streamlined mortgages and provide optimal lending solutions, Erin and the team work hand-in-hand with clients and their own advisors, along with internal and external providers. The goal is to meet immediate, near and future objectives, consider alternate scenarios and satisfy clients’ personal comfort levels by bringing clients an unmatched breadth of proprietary and non-proprietary solutions.
Due to its prudent and comprehensive wealth management approach, The Resin Hammitt Group has seen interest in its services rise significantly during “difficult” markets, when prospective clients become uncomfortable with volatility. The team feels personally rewarded when it sees a client “prosper emotionally” – knowing the wealth they’ve worked hard to achieve can serve as a dependable source of income that adds stability to their lifestyle.
