PROFESSIONAL PROFILE
Mike Alves is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certificant, a designation awarded by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. and Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC®) with a focus on providing financial services to families of high net worth lawyers, physicians and business executives. As an advisor, Mike’s goal is to help his clients preserve wealth through a disciplined approach to money management. His team insists on understanding the specific circumstances of each client they work with, and they strive to establish strong relationships with those clients in order to gain their trust and to learn of their true goals and aspirations.
After earning his undergraduate degree in International Business Administration from the University of California, Riverside, Mike gravitated to a career in wealth management because it combined his “fascination with financial markets” along with his knack for building lifelong relationships with clients. He was a member of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society and Golden Key National Honor Society.
The Alves team prides themselves over their diligence and tenacity in providing clients unparalleled guidance. The team’s investment philosophy does not follow a mathematical financial model, but instead they view each relationship individually. After weighing each client’s needs, objectives and risk tolerances, Mike’s team tailors their investment strategy to the individual. His team does not select individual stocks or bonds to invest in. Rather, they structure plans specifically tailored to the circumstances of each person, while relying on a special team of talented, independent institutional money managers. With the assurance that each client receives guidance from world-class management and research, his team is able to utilize these resources while offering the high quality service you expect from a small boutique investment firm.
Mike is an ardent supporter of Non-Profits and charities such as Corazon de Vida, UCR Alumni Association and the LA Opera. He serves on the Advisory Board for the Latino Medical Student Association and the Community Lawyers, Inc. He currently serves as the Vice President for the California Hispanic Corporate Council Leadership Institute and serves on the Children's Hospital of LA Corporate Committee. Additionally, he is the founder and chairman of the Los Angeles Business Advisory Council (LABAC), a strong network of trusted professionals consisting of lawyers, accountants and business consultants. Mike created LABAC with the goal of better serving his clients’ needs.
Mike is happily married and in his little free time, he enjoys golfing, traveling, fine cuisine, wine and spending time with his wife and son. Having lived in Europe for many years, Mike is fluent in both Portuguese and Spanish.
